What is a trichologist?

A trichologist is a true “Hair expert” trained in the science of the hair and scalp. Experience with cancer patients can vary, but some can offer advice on forms of hair and scalp problems throughout treatment.

Other services they offer may include helping you to understand why hair loss is affecting you during treatment, diagnosing reasons for hair growth problems, offering advice on new growth, scalp care,  recommending specialist wig makers, products and other services.

A trichologist is not necessarily a hairdresser, although some are. They are not a medical doctor but have mostly undertaken a degree-level training course and had an extensive hands on training period.
