Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient practice where massage or pressure is applied to various areas of your hands or feet, feet being the most common. The practitioners, reflexologists, work on the belief that we have reflex areas in our hands and feet that act as a map for our entire body (also the mind and spirit). They can normally work on any particular body area or emotion you would like and because they use the foot or hand as a map there are direct areas that relate to your head and therefore your hair. For example the big toe on the right foot relates to your head so your reflexologist may be able to stimulate this area.

Reflexology is one of the most commonly used complementary therapies for cancer patients and some cancer units may have a reflexologist who works from the hospital. The sessions are normally from 30 minutes to 1 hour, costs vary starting from around £20.00 for 30 minutes. There is no need to remove your clothes, just your socks. You will normally lie down or sit, whichever is appropriate.

Treatment to the feet and hands is a wonderful way to enhance your sense of wellbeing and a great vent for emotions associated with your hair loss.

“I don’t know if pressing my feet helped my hair to grow, but the relaxation and chance to do something that has been used for thousands of years was a lovely experience. “ Max 38 Letchworth
