Other treatments and thinning hair– New hair growth

For most people who have been advised that treatments such as hormone replacement therapy or biological therapy may cause hair loss or hair thinning, their nurse will have discussed hair loss and given you an overview of where the hair loss may occur and information about if the hair will grow back - which it normally does. This section should help guide you through most new hair growth situations.

If you have been advised that the hair will grow back, then the best advice is to plan for this. It may be a different in texture, colour, and amount, or it may be just the same as it was. The great thing is that it is your new hair and a time to plan a new style. This advice sheet will take you through all the commonly asked questions and help you to make a plan for your new hair.

Thinning hair
Some people who experience hair thinning, rather than complete hair loss, say that they see “new sprouts” a bit like baby hair appear in amongst their remaining hair – this is good as this hair can then continue to grow. You can follow the advice here as it may still apply.
