Green Not Mean

Green & Care Policy

Why go Green?......Because your planet's worth it and so are you...
________________________________________
A ‘Green and Care policy’ is really important to us. At Cancer Hair Care we believe that it is our responsibility to go about our tasks with a green and ethical approach whenever we can. We don’t just talk about it – we do it. Whether it’s designing the world's first ever organic 'hair loss head scarves’ or using recycled paper for our leaflets and advice sheets. We truly do our best to consider the environment and ethics of what we do.
We believe that information about hair care at this sensitive time should be free and that is why we started this charity Website. The wonderful thing about a Website is that it allows information to be shared and offered for free in the privacy and comfort of your own home.

A friendly and honest, ethical and professional, yet caring approach to advice is something we pride ourselves on. We take a holistic view of hair care. That means we look at your hair care as a whole. Your body, mind and spirit. Whatever you are faced with, it’s not a hair loss plan you need, it’s a hair CARE plan for rethinking your image and feeling good inside and out. Below we have set out a few of the green, caring and ethical bits we are up to. We are always interested to hear from you so if you have a suggestion please get in touch – Contact Us click here.

We think it's fair to say that we are Green and not mean!
Our founder has been involved in environmental, ethical, charity and green matters for many years. She is the Chair woman of the Stevenage Fairtrade Group and has won many “Green” awards. She has even been invited to meet the Prime Minister in recognition of her green, ethical and caring achievements in both business and charity.

Here are some of the Green, Caring and Ethical bits we are up to:

Our Green Office
We Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rethink the way we work. Here are just a few examples:

• Our Green Office Paper, glue, pens and bits and bobs are all sourced from environmentally friendly companies such as The Green Stationery Company

• We use recycled paper for all of our leaflets, posters and written work

• We recycle our ink cartridges

• We use soya ink when we can for various print situations

• Phones and web domains are hosted by the ethical provider “The Phone Coop”

• Recycle any bits we can!

• Second-hand furniture – Our main office desk was my little sister's bedroom table! (well she's not so little now!). Our chairs and various bits of equipment are second- hand

• Carbon offsetting is done on a yearly basis. This year we have given funds to a local charity The Knebworth House Education and Preservation Trust, to grow new trees in the village we work in

• Fairtrade teas…we all need a cuppa now and then so we make sure that ours is ethical by having Fairtrade tea, coffee and hot chocolate yum…

Our beautiful on-line Boutique
At The Caring Hair Boutique it’s our pleasure to offer you a beautiful range of natural and organic products. Headscarves, gifts and bits and bobs to help with all your specialist hair care. We believe in offering you a luxury experience – you deserve every bit of it.

So thank you for shopping with us which means that together we can make hair loss one less worry.

Organic & Natural Ingredients
When faced with hair care problems it is so important that products help reduce symptoms and nurture you inside and out. That’s why we look to nature for our inspiration. Did you know that all of our liquid products are natural or organic. We feel that it is important to recommend products that are good for you and the planet.

Twice as nice – recycle your used head scarves
Waste not want not...From our founder Jasmin Julia Gupta…

”In December 2008 I went to Charing Cross hospital and cut my friend Caroline’s long hair into a pixie crop as she was starting chemo the next day and we knew her hair would go. Caroline never wore her wig but decided to have a pick and mix of head scarves. She took all 8 scarves that I had to offer her!

The following year it was such a lovely surprise that when her hair started to grow back (she had a good inch by the following August) she handed me a big bag containing all of her head scarves, the unworn wig and accessories “Here you are darling”, she said…"can you do anything with these?”.

Yes, I thought I can,…so Twice as Nice was created. You can send me any used head scarves, wigs and accessories. We wash them and beautifully re pack them, tied with a pink ribbon and wrapped in tissue paper. Then we give them to people in hospitals and hospices”. If you would like to donate scarves and wigs click here to find out more.

Re think...everything we do can be a little bit greener, more ethical and thoughtful to the world around us. We do our best to make that thought a reality.
